So, you just booked your boudoir session, yeah baby! You're feeling excited yet nervous because you've never done anything like this before and you're probably thinking..."this is so out of my comfort zone!" Welcome, what you are feeling is completely normal...I can assure you of that! Every client that comes to me almost always feels exactly the way you do. I want to reassure you that you are in good hands. I have been shooting boudoir photography for nearly 9 years (hard for me to believe), and I have the expertise needed to deliver an amazing experience, calm your nerves, and reduce fears and anxiety while getting killer shots. This article discusses what you can expect after booking your boudoir session.
Part of what goes into delivering an amazing experience is providing my clients with the all the information they need to feel prepared for their session. Once your appointment has been confirmed, you will receive a welcome letter containing everything you need to know and what to expect after booking your boudoir session. A detailed guide filled with gorgeous images (for inspiration) outlines places to shop for lingerie, how to prepare your skin, face and hair, as well as prepping the morning of your session. It also outlines details about what to expect once the photo shoot is over...like "when will I get to see my images and order my album?" For the privacy and safety for myself and clients, the address to my home studio is not published on this site. You will be give the address once your session is booked. You will also receive a lingerie guide to help you select the best lingerie possible for your body type/shape, personality and style...and of course, I'm always available to answer your questions! The most important thing about lingerie is getting a proper fit and how it makes you feel while wearing it.
Once you arrive to my home studio, I will lead you to the "getting ready room" and introduce my stylist. Together we will discuss how you would like your makeup and hair styled. Next, we will look over the items you brought with you and lay them out. This is your time to relax and rid yourself of any anxiety you might be feeling. I'll have music playing, candles lit, and offer you a beverage of your choice. Hair and makeup takes on average 90 minutes, so you'll have plenty of time to relax in the getting ready room before we begin shooting.
Once you are happy with how your hair and makeup looks, we'll select your first outfit and begin shooting. I like to have a little "pep talk" before we get started. Clients are nervous to get started and tell me they "don't know how to pose." I tell them that posing is my expertise and I don't expect them to know how. I will demonstrate each pose and give directions on where to place your arms, hands and feet, as well as where to look while coaching for facial expressions. There are times during the session where I like "go off script" and encourage my clients to express their own unique personal style and give them the freedom to express themselves in any manor they wish. Whether it be fun and playful, a little flirty, or down right sexy! It's fun to see them come out of their shell and get out of their comfort zone, and trust me...I get some great shots that are truly unique and one of a kind. I'll spend roughly 45 minutes photographing you in each outfit. The total amount of time you can expect to be photographed is 2-2.5 hours...plenty of time for you to get comfortable in front of my lens. I like to end each session in the dark room on black satin sheets with a fan blowing your hair ever so slightly for some great close ups!
